Friend of mine was motorcycle racing at Road America this past weekend - finish line in sight in 1st. Did not end in 1st place needless to say. Crankcase had a small leak in it :)

How does a vacuum leak lead to a hole blown in the crankcase?
Looks like a simple bike, not many places to develop a vacuum leak
EDIT: Can’t tell when people are kidding

But it is a vacuum leak! It sucked!

I was thinking maybe a buildup of crankcase pressure because bad pcv (vacuum leak) and over-revving (if it even has a pcv). The over-revving would hurt it more than the leak would I imagine
But I don’t think that build up in pressure could actually break anything unless a significant flaw was already in the crankcase

Was he able to coast to the line?

he did, caught second still so he was going at a pretty good clip. Must have been neck and neck with the throttle poured on for him to catch a finish like that

The faulty valve would probably be the fail point.

Crikey, it’s uphill to the finish at RA so he must’ve been on it to get 2nd.

Wait, I don’t think that connecting rod is supposed to be facing that way!

Would NOT want to be the person racing behind him!

I think this will require some JB Weld in addition to the duck tape.

Looks more like a balin’ wire situation to me.

Well, according to my grandfather all vehicles need some baling wire on them somewhere.
